Whatever It Takes...... |

... up to and including wading into the Pacific Ocean. |
February 2012 The grieving process continues in the wake
of Lara's passing last month. I should be ready to go back to work in the next few weeks. In the meantime, a big
thank-you to all the friends and colleagues who have been so supportive.
January 2012 Happy New Year! Watch for the premiere of Four Weddings (Canada)
on Slice, Wednesday, January 4th, at 2200 EST.
November 2011 Just wrapped principal photography on Season Two of What's Up, Warthogs!.
As Charlie McGuinness would say: "Cheddar!!"
September 2011 Breakthrough Films' Picnicface
premieres on the Comedy Network on September 21st at 10:30 pm EDT. I spent two months in Halifax, NS working with an
amazing comedy troupe and crew as key boom operator on this show. Check out www.picnicface.com for more details.
September 2010 The season premiere for the CBC's The Nature Of Things will feature Changing Your Mind, the sequel to the documentary The Brain That Changes Itself.
Changing Your Mind delves further into the concept of neuroplasticity as it relates to schizophrenia, obsessive-compulsive
disorder, and post-traumantic stress disorder. Changing Your Mind will debut Thursday, September 30th, 8:00 PM
EDT, on CBC's main network channels across Canada.
July 2010 90th Parallel Productions will have two more
documentaries in the Global Television Revealed documentary series: No Country For Animals, an examination
of the state of animal rights in Canada. This documentary has also been archived on the Internet, and can be seen at
http://media.causes.com/ribbon/866950. In addition to field audio, I am also credited as an additonal cameraman, having shot some of the undercover footage
on handi-cam.
Global will also air Missing The Target, a look into the debate
on handguns in Canada, from the same series.
May 2009 90th Parallel Productions' latest Revealed
documentary, Hip 2 B Holy, makes its broadcast premiere. This documentary examines the resurgence of Christianity
among Canada's young people. Tune into Global Television May 25th, 2009 at 10:00 PM
April 2009 Just been informed by producer Craig Baines
that Survive This! premieres Tuesday, April 7th, at 7:30 PM on YTV.
April 2008 Sturla Gunnarsson's feature-length documentary Air
India 182, which opened the 2008 Hot Docs festival in Toronto, will air commercial-free on the CBC's main
network on June 22nd, 2008 at 9:00 pm ET. As one of the EFP sound recordists, I recorded nearly a dozen interviews
for the documentary portion of the project, and I also worked on dramatic re-creations for the project as a boom operator
for Production Sound Mixer Cory Siddall. For
more information, please visit the film’s website at http://www.airindia182.com, and for a preview, please take a look
at the following link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_x6fs1IpSDk&feature=email
September 2007 The first episode of No Opportunity Wasted
has premiered! This is one project I am seriously proud to have been a part of. For more information on this exciting
programme, please visit the official website at www.noopportunitywasted.ca.
August 2007 Earlier this year, I recorded Juno-award winning singer/songwriter
Jann Arden as she volunteered her time to star in a 30-second PSA for Kids Help Phone. The PSA is now being
broadcast on television, and can be seen at the Kids Help Phone website. Special thanks to Canada News Wire, who donated their time and production facilities for the spot.
August 2007 The Discovery HD special Inside Queen Mary 2
premiered this weekend. I was part of one of three crews on the ship for Exploration Productions, the production company
which put the special together. For more information check out the Discovery Channel web-page.
June, 2007 The feature film Lookalike, on which I worked
as Boom Operator in the autumn of 2005, has been released under the title Bolly Double. It won the Audience Choice
Award at the 2007 Reel World Film Festival in Toronto. For further updates, check out www.bollydouble.com.
June 2006 CBC's biographical documentary series Life And
Times will broadcast "Encounters with Moses: The Life and Times of Moses Znaimer", by 90th Parallell Productions,
on Monday, June 26th. I recorded audio for a couple of the interviews in Toronto. Unfortunately, my name never
ended up in the credits, and 90th Parallell Productions has expressed to me their regret over the oversight. To which
I reply, "No worries."
March thru May 2006 Just finished recording sound in
various communities in Ontario and Quebec competing for the right to call themselves Hockeyville, 2006. For more information
on this project, check out www.cbchockeyville.ca. Unfortunately, nobody got a picture of me doing sound on skates in Wingham, Ontario. Worse still, cameraman
Greg Bruce failed to keep his head up while crossing the blue-line and got smoked.
March 2006 At Long Last! Three and a half years after
principle photography wrapped, Rhinoceros Eyes has a distribution deal! It will open in theatres in Canada on
March 10th, thanks to Capri Releasing. Oddly enough, my brief non-speaking role as the sound recordist during the "film-within-a-film"
scene was enough to get me my own listing at northernstars.ca. For more information, visit the Capri Films website.

Brian Marleau, the Zip-Trekking Camera Man. |
April 2005 DOP Brian Marleau prepares to do a shot while ZipTrekking across Fitzsimmons Creek,
the gorge that separates Whistler Peak and Blackcomb Peak in British Columbia. This was for CTV Travel's Valerie
Pringle Has Left The Building to air during the 2005/06 season.
This looks a lot more dangerous than it actually is. It is, however, a ton of fun, and for extra scare
value during the crossing, make sure you look down. Way down.
December 2005 Back in August of 2005, film director Norman Jewison sat down and
chatted with CBS News Reporter Russ Mitchell, at Jewison's office in Toronto, Ontario, and at his farm in Caledon East,
Ontario. I was hired to record the sound. Director's Cut aired on CBS News Sunday Morning on December
18th, 2005.
November 2004 The Biographer's Voice: The Life and Times of Peter C. Newman is
on the air. I recorded interviews in Toronto for this episode of the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation's Life
And Times.
December 2004 For those of you who are fans of the Discovery Channel's Daily Planet,
I was with one of the four crews who documented a rare behind-the-scenes look at a day in the life of Daily Planet.
The Making Of Daily Planet will be broadcast on Tuesday, January 4th, 2005.
December 2004 eTalk Daily's special Shania's Homecoming special that I
did field audio for is finished, and on the air! For more details, go to the CTV website, under "Movies and Specials".
